Neon signs have been making a huge comeback in Pakistani cafés, restaurants, salons, and boutiques. But what most people now call 'neon' is actually LED neon flex — a much safer, cheaper, more durable cousin of traditional glass neon. Here's everything you need to choose between them.
Traditional glass neon
Hand-bent glass tubes filled with inert gas (neon, argon) that glow when high voltage passes through. Requires a transformer for the high voltage, and the glass tubes are fragile.
Pros: Iconic warm glow with a slight flicker that purists love. Long history. Vintage authenticity.
Cons: Fragile (glass breaks). Higher voltage (less safe). Hotter. Higher energy use. Limited color range. More expensive to repair.
LED neon flex
A flexible silicone tube containing many small LEDs that diffuse to look like a neon glow. Runs on safe low-voltage DC (12V or 24V).
Pros: Safe (low voltage). Cheap to run. Durable (no glass to break). Bright. Wide color range including RGB color-changing. Easy to repair (replace a section).
Cons: Slightly less 'authentic' feel for purists. The diffused look is uniform — no flicker.

What we mostly install
About 90% of our 'neon' signs are now LED neon flex — and clients are uniformly happy with them. Glass neon is reserved for the small subset of clients who specifically want the vintage look and have the budget to back it up.
